Chat Noir was inspired by a turn of the century French poster by Theophile Steinlen. It advertises a nightclub called the Chat Noir, or black cat. It features an alley cat with attitude from the streets of Montmartre near the Chat Noir, an area of Paris that was home to Toulouse-Lautrec and many of his contemporaries.
